Beginning Knitting – A two session course, each session lasting one hour. In the first session, you will be knitting in no time and have your first project underway before class ends. During the second session, you will learn to cast on, increase and decrease and be ready to knit just about anything!
$35/ per session or $65 for both
Kids’ Knitting: Like riding a bicycle, knitting is a “muscle memory" that will remain with your child throughout his or her life life. Knitting is also known to improve fine motor skills such as handwriting. In one class or more, your child will learn the basics and knit a pair of “wristers" or fingerless gloves. Additional and more advanced skills will be offered should there be sufficient demand. Co-ed. Ages 8 and up: One - 75 minute class. $35 includes all supplies.
Technique Courses
( advanced beginners and up)
Technique courses are offered on a rolling schedule. If you don't see that course you are interested in on the schedule now, it will be there in upcoming months. Please feel free to give us a call at (203) 629 -9276 to express interest in a particular Technique Course.
We are will be offering a set of Mini Courses, each lasting one half hour, devoted to teaching you special techniques that will be invaluable to you as a knitter and to give you the confidence and skills to tackle more exciting and challenging projects. Courses include: Cast-On and Bind-Offs, Cables, Fixing Mistakes, Knitting with Double Pointed and Circular Needles, Increases and Decreases, Seams with Lidia
$20 per /mini course or $110 for all 6.
We will be offering 4 one hour technique courses to introduce several more advanced skills for knitters including: Introduction to Lace, Crochet for Knitters, Fair Isle color knitting, and the Art of Intarsia (another color knitting method).
$35 per class or $125 for all four.
In addition, we are offering a very special course Finishing with Lidia, taught by the talented Lidia Karabinech, our in-house designer, and by reputation considered the best finisher in the New York area. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from the best - during two one-hour sessions! Lidia’s expert skills will be evident as she shows you the techniques for completing your garments and sweaters like a real professional.
$75 for two sessions.
Lidia’s finishing classes have proved so popular that we’ve also added the quickie technique class: Seams with Lidia, a half hour mini course on how to correctly seam your garments. (see the Techniques course offerings above)
$20 per /mini course.
Multi Session Project Courses

Socks – If you always wanted to learn to knit socks then his three session course is the perfect workshop. You will choose from a selection of beautiful hand dyed merino, and during three one hour classes, you will learn to knit a heel and a gusset and create the prettiest, comfiest socks in your wardrobe!
$75 for all three sessions.

Adult Sweater: (or maybe your second or third). String will be the place to be to learn the basics of sweater construction. From cast on to garment shaping and design, you will learn to read a pattern and follow all the details to complete your first sweater.
Four one-hour sessions. $130 plus a 20% discount on yarns purchased for your sweater.

Baby Sweater: Like our Adult Sweater but, on a smaller scale. Three one hour sessions. $95 includes a 20% discount on yarn purchases for this project.

Challenged by Crochet: A three part crochet class will teach you the basics and more as you create your very own colorful baby blanket or afghan Multiple stitches will be introduced in this beginner to intermediate crochet course. Three one hour classes. $95 includes a 20% discount on yarn purchases for this project.

The Pi Shawl: Lace Knitting at its best. Master the concept of lace knitting, utilizing assorted needle types and sizes, pattern and chart reading, increase techniques and color design all at once. Three one hour classes. $95 (includes book). All materials will be available for purchase.

How to register:
Sign up in advance by telephone or in person at the Greenwich store. Classes will require a minimum enrollment of three people to take place. Private classes are always available at $50/hour, by appointment.
Payment is required in full at time of registration. Fees do not include supplies which will be purchased at String at the start of the class.
If you need to cancel within 72 hours of the class, your fee will be forfeited. We reserve the right to cancel or change the date of a class and will refund your fee or offer to apply it to another class of your choice.
This is a new program for us, and we will work with you as flexibly as we can to make it a success for all!
