String is probably the only knitting store in the country that has five published designers on our staff – Lidia Karabinech, Laurie Kimmelstiel, Sauniell Connally, Lisa Hoffman and me! In the Fall issue of Vogue Knitting two of our String designers, Lisa and Sauniell, had projects featured! And in the Holiday issue of Vogue Knitting that came out this past week, Trisha Malcolm, editorial director of Vogue Knitting, wrote the following about Lisa Hoffman’s design:
“I find it interesting that so many people are doing small projects….Lisa Hoffman’s lace panel gloves…are being reinterpreted in every hue imaginable. We’ve heard that many yarn shops are using them as the focus of classes on glove making.”
This week’s special features Lisa’s gloves, and we are offering them in conjunction with glove making workshops in both the New York store and the Greenwich store taught by Lisa herself! And we will be offering a short video featuring Lisa explaining the basics of glove making. You will find the details of the workshops in the
live@String section of our website.
The foliage of Fall is knit right into Lisa’s gloves in the form of an elegant leaf lace panel that flow from the cuff’s deep rib up the back of the hand. The gloves are knit with Artyarns Cashmere Sock yarn (67% cashmere, 25% wool, 8% nylon), giving them the body needed to keep their shape and at the same time making them softer than soft and toasty warm. We are offering them in four saturated jewel tones hand-dyed by Artyarns, including the ever so chic ox blood shade that was shown in Vogue Knitting.
Try them! Come to the workshops if you are local! We guarantee that glove making will become your new passion!
