65th Street Stripes
Inspired by this season’s color block sweaters featured in the windows of Madison Avenue, we designed a four color irregularly striped tunic. A bit oversized, the tunic can be dressed up or dressed down. Wear it alone as a dress, or with leggings, or whatever the occasion calls for. It is super-chic and flattering to all.
For the yarn, we chose S. Charles Heather, a 50%/50% cashmere/silk blend that comes in an amazing array of colorways. Thanks to the silk which always enhances color, the fabulous colors of Heather allowed us to come up with various color combinations that are all “of the moment” while being truly classical. For our sample, we chose to combine three neutrals – black, cocoa, and sand – with a funky acid lime that gives it pop and makes it fun.

Beyond the great color options, Heather is the perfect yarn for the tunic for a variety of reasons – It is much lighter and less dense than 100% cashmere, and does not have the same warmth. In fact, it is so light that we would recommend it for places with more moderate climates and for Fall and Spring.
Relatively simple to knit, we know that our 65th Street Stripes will become a wardrobe favorite. Start now so you have it done in time for the holidays!

When one of our suppliers showed us the “Missoni” Scarf a few weeks ago, we knew it would be an instant best seller. More Missoni looking than many actual Missonis, we all loved it and everyone who has seen it loves it. We know you will too. The yarn has been offered to us as a one-time-only opportunity with limited quantities, so it’s first come-first served, and we urge you to order quickly!
The scarf is made from 8 different colorways, each of which has a number of contrasting colors in it. You simply knit each colorway until you finish the ball, and at the end of each colorway, you put in two rows of white, and then begin the next color until you have finished all eight. You can knit the colorways in the order that we package it, or you can knit them in whatever order strikes your fancy. The color patterns are incredible no matter what order they are knit. We actually have three samples in the store, each of which looks unique since they were knit in different orders.
The scarf is super long at 80 inches, making it look ever so dramatic and giving you the opportunity to drape it around many times to make a real fashion statement.
Knit in the round on US 4 needles, using a high quality extrafine merino with a bit of microfiber to help it keep its shape, the “Missoni” scarf is a great project for knitters of all levels, and is a perfect extra project for those times when you don’t want to have to concentrate but you do want to keep your fingers busy. And although some knitters find some projects in the round not so challenging, this one is actually fascinating as you watch the color patterns evolve as you knit.
